“Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and lead us from this world to another.”

-Plato

Who are we?

We are a group of ordinary high schoolers with extraordinary ambitions. We are curious learners, avid astronomers, and, more importantly, a member of the global community. We wish to use our passion for astronomy to teach and inspire the underprivileged. We believe everyone deserves a free and equal education and strives to inspire and educate the subject of Astronomy those in need of a better education.

How does OPOC work?

OPOC’s main goal is to provide an opportunity to educate from our knowledge of astronomy. We will hold fun sessions over Zoom. If you, however, cannot for any reason join us on Zoom, we will send you recordings and interactive videos of the activities we covered in class. As a non-profit organization, the registration and classes are completely free. While being an educational group, we also strive to create a diverse and equal community of astronomy lovers. Anyone and everyone of all ages, gender, races, etc. (science transcends boarders!), can join our classes and discussions as we build a science community together.

What are the classes about?

As avid astronomy-enthusiasts, our “classes” will be about the vast cosmos around us. We will explain, in an interactive and easily understandable way, the vast concepts of the universe around us - black holes, dimensions, and even the concept of space-time. We will use interactive activities to visually demonstrate some of the unfathomable but fascinating concepts of the cosmos. We will provide a chance for everyone to learn and dive into the fascinating realm of astronomy and astrophysics.
