Summer 2023 Update: Astronomy Kits, Donations, and New Members!

Greetings from OPOC! It has been quite a journey since our last newsletter, and we apologize for the extended break due to the very busy schedules of our team. However, we are thrilled to be back with some exciting updates to share about the things we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Our First Astronomy Kit: Phases of the Moon!

With the help of our president Minghao, we’ve officially created our first Astronomy Kit!

This kit was designed to help the user visualize the phases of the moon through different angles observation of light on a ball, made to mimic the actual phenomenon. We wanted the user to fully grasp the concepts of changing light and angles and how this creates the different moon shapes we observe in our night sky.

Hospital Donations!

Since creating the kits above, our goal now was to get them out as far as we could. We began reaching out to hospitals and volunteers along the U.S. West Coast and China and have donated to the Ronald McDonald Center, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, and the Peking University First Hospital with many more to come! Take a look:

As of now, we’re absolutely thrilled to announce that we’ve donated over 210 kits across the hospitals with our amazing team and volunteers!
